Overview of Machining - Swiss Screw (3599-SW)

— Screw Machining (aka swiss style or swiss type machining) is a production method designed to be extremely proficient for the manufacturing of small parts and also for long, slender parts which would otherwise deflect or vibrate when turning on a lathe. This process is also very fast and extremely accurate holding tight tolerances as close as +/-.0002. These cutting edge machines allow turning, milling and back turning operations to be completed on the same machine, finishing the part with no secondary processes necessary. These machines are capable of manufacturing parts from 1/8" to 1-1/4 diameter in production volumes ranging from prototype to large production runs in excess of 100,000 components. Typical parts which are manufactured on screw machines include spacers, fasteners, nozzles, poppets, electronic connectors, custom hardware and precision shafts. Components range from medical implants, semiconductor processing equipment, petrochemical industry valves, complex instrumentation, analytical devices and numerous advanced industrial applications. Professional Plastics a full-range of general purpose and advanced engineering plastics used by swiss screw machine shops including: Nylon®, Acetal, PVC, Ultem®, Vespel®, PEEK, Teflon® PTFE, PCTFE, PFA. PVDF, Torlon® and hundreds more. Stock orders are processed quickly from one of our 22 Locations in the USA, Singapore and Taiwan.
